The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exam results have officially been released today, Monday, March 28, 2022. Announcing the results, Education Cabinet Secretary Professor George Magoha Commended all candidates who sat for the KCPE examinations.
Prior to announcing the results to the public, the Education CS and his team consisting of the Education PS and TSC Boss Nancy Macharia briefed the president at State House, Nairobi where they updated him on this year’s results compared to the previous years.
The CS announced despite the challenging period they had to endure due to COVID-19, the candidates did their best. The exams were pushed forward to March 2022 as a result of pandemic-triggered disruptions on the academic calendar. Further, the CS announced that this will be the last KCPE examination results being released under President Uhuru's administration.
A total of 1,225,693 candidates sat for the exams that began on 7th March 2022 across 28,248 examination centres. Addressing the Press, CEO KNEC Dr. David Njeng’ere revealed that this year’s examinations was successful and all due diligence was followed in awarding the results.
The leading candidate in this year’s KCPE examination is Magata Bruce Makenzi from Gilgil Hills Academy who managed to score a total of 428 marks. Momanyi from Makini Schools came second.
However, the CS announced that there was a slight drop in the top student’s marks compared to 2020 who had 433, he however noted that there was general improvement overall.
