COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli's Message to The Government To Do This Before Implementing CBC

Competency Based Curriculum is the new system of education that has been introduced recently and basically parents are complaining so much claiming that it is too demanding. The education cabinet secretary Mr. George Magoha told parents that they will have to agree with this system of education whether they like it or not. According to Magoha, this form of learning equips students with skills and they not only gain theoretic knowledge but also practical content. Several bodies including Kenya Institute Of Curriculum Development promised to take this matter in court and they were supported by Nelson Havi. According to them, this system is so demanding and parents are the ones who suffer not even students. The latest person seemingly trying to oppose the CBC learning system is COTU secretary general Mr. Francis Atwoli. According to Atwoli, he said that CBC cannot pass if the government does not look for a way balancing the ratio between pupils and students. According to Atwoli, the current ratio of students to teachers is 56:1 and even teachers are unable to teach with this large numbers. He commanded the government to ensure the ratio of teachers to pupils is 1:20 then they can later on think about implementing CBC.
