Schools are set to close on Friday next week to pave way for the one week break before another journey of 2021 Education calendar. The parents have had their joy of celebrations after the ministry of education reducing the boarding schools fees by at least Ksh 10,000.This is because of the reduced overall number of the weeks in 2021.
The Government has already disbursed the remaining capitation fees to schools in preparation for the opening of schools. However, this ought to have been spent in this ending term. The school Principals have cried foul of the delay. On Wednesday, through their KEPSHA head, they immediately responded to CS Professor George Magoha saying that the latest disbursements will go directly on school debts.
Following these debts in schools and now that the already released money is not enough, the schools need to limit their expenses. Most of the secondary schools have completed exams.Inorder to reduce the expenses, schools may start closing immediately from Monday next week.
Looking from the Covid-19 pandemic perspective, the current surge in the infections in the country especially the lake region is proving to be more dangerous for learners. When schools will close at once on Thursday or Friday, there is high chances of students' infections due to congestions during travelling.Inorder to avert this, the schools may just start closing as early as Monday in turns. This will highly reduce the risks.Unfortunately, the Principals have already expressed their fears during the coming closure of schools. The parents should be aware of this to send fare for their children.
