The parents of St.Andrews Kaggwa boarding Primary school,are counting losses after the school caught fired and property destroyed.According to eye witness,the fire started at dawn as children had just gone for their breakfast yesterday.."We saw black smoke and then found the dormitory burning."Said Jared Mong'are.pho:Fire.
The police from Nyamira led by Nicolas Mwang'angi, have stated investigations to establish the cause of the fire .Early investigations showed that the strange fire was caused by faults electrical connections ,said the police officer."We thank God because there was no teacher nor pupil hurt during the commotion, " he added.
However,reliable sources revealed that the matressess and other belongings of the 141 pupils perished in the blaze.The school secretary Mr.Cas0as Momanyi,appealed to any well wishes to donate blankets clothes and shoes firectly to the school to enable the pupils startt a new life."They lost alot of property including learning materials."He said.
St.Andrews Kaggwa was one of the school s that posted impressive results in the 2020 KCPE examinations from Nyamira county.photo:Celebrations after 2020,examinations results.
Following the great fire,,Nyamira county director of education Mrs Margaret Mwirigia,has assured parents that their children are safe.She said the police were firm on the ground for secirity.photo:The police.
The director asked for quick investigation from the police on the cause of the fire She cautioned all learning institutions'managers to make sure that electrical equipment were well fixed for smooth running of their schools.
