There was a moment of tension in Machakos University after angry students protested, following the murder of one of them. According to the reports that we have, the university students were angered after insecurity concerns around the university remained unaddressed.
The university students blocked the roads and GSU officers were deployed to disperse the protesting students. In a video shared by the standard, the officers were seen lobbying tear gas cannisters at the students, as some of the students attempted to fight back.
One of the student who spoke to a journalist wondered why the relevant authorities waited until they protested so they can send several officers to try and stop the yet when they complained about insecurity nothing was done.
"The issue of insecurity has been a threat to the entire university especially the comrades. Right now one of us is dead lying in the mortuary and no one is concerned" one of the student told the Standard.
