“The Biggest Crime This Government Has Ever Done Is Refusing To Re-open Schools" Dr Kizza Besigye

Dr Besigye, a medical doctor and the ex personal physician to President Museveni, noted the closure of all Ugandan schools and other restrictions enforced by Education ministry due to the Covid-19 pandemic are illogical and unjustified.

“The biggest crime this government has ever done is refusing to re-open schools. There is absolutely no justification for the measures that have been taken in education,” opposition politician, Dr Kizza Besigye.

The four times presidential runner noted that the learners are less likely to get infected with Covid-19 infections.

Dr Kizza Besigye, has urged the government to consider opening learning institutions so that learning processes may resume, claiming that the learners are just roaming in the streets while at home and this may make some student engage in criminal activities.

The latest development comes when Ugandan government shut down all schools for the second time on June 18, at a time when the lower primary classes, which were shut down in the first lockdown in March 2020, were to resume their classes.

Last week, President Museveni and his spouse Janet, who is the Ugandan Education minister, noted that the schools shall reopen after the learners are vaccinated.
