Lonyangapuo is the incumbent governor of West Pokot.The Governor did his Secondary Education in St.Mary's Yala High school.The school was established in 1927 by the Mill Hill missionaries.The provincial school is situated along Kisumu Busia highway in Yala town.The boys school has a population of about 700 students.
The school offers various school disciplines such as rugby, basketball,handball and field hockey.The school has been having great performance in the rugby competition.In 2003 ,the rugby team won the national rugby secondary school competition.
The school has been expanding its infrastructure.Currently, they have 13 dormitories and 22 classrooms , administration and research laboratories.
That school has been performing well in the KCSE examination.In 2019, the school the school had a mean score of 7.4.This performance ranked it among the best schools in Nyanza region.More than 65% of the students were able attain the minimum grade to join the university.
