Bachelor of Laws degree popularly known as LLB is on the list of highly ranked courses in Kenya. This did not begin the other day but during the colonial era. During that time, Kenya had a vibrant lawyer of African descent by the name Argwings Kodhek. He will go down in the books of history as the first Kenyan to become a lawyer.
Nowadays we also have big names in the legal field, the likes of: James Orengo, Ahmednassir Abdullahi, Otiende Amollo etc. What you should know is that it is not always an easy journey to become a lawyer in Kenya.
In every university that the degree is offered, the duration to complete the program is usually four years. But the journey does not end there, you will need to proceed to the Kenya School of Law (KSL) for a post diploma program in Advocates Training Program if you will be interested in becoming an advocate of the High Court.
KSL takes about one year and a half. One year busy in school and the remaining bit undergoing pupillage at a law firm or an organization under the supervision of a master.
