Kisii aspiring senator Nyambane donates 200 masks to schools as a way to curb Covid-19

200 students in Kisii have benefited from free masks from aspiring senator Nyambane as school cry for shortage of water  in schools.

At least 200 students have benefited from the distribution of 500 face masks at Nyamemiso primary and secondary school in Nyaribari Chache in preparations for school reopening next year.

Nyamemiso Primary head teacher Wilkins Atoti said face masks have been a challenge in keeping children in school in line with the Covid 19 protocols.

“We thank the organizers for the face masks that will help us curb the spread of Covid19 virus in schools,” he said.

The head teacher noted water is a challenge and this will get worse when the schools will reopen in January next year.

“Water is a challenge in our school and we will find it more difficult when the whole school will reopen in January, “ he said.

He asked for the government to find ways of having consistent flow of water in school come reopening of January next year.  

He noted the school has few classes which are fully occupied by class eight and grade four pupils who are in school at the moment.

“We are worried how we will accommodate the whole school when we open fully in January, maintaining social distance will be another big challenge due to small class rooms , “said the head teacher.

Peter Omwama Nyamemiso, secondary principal said the motive by Okengo Nyambane should be imitated by leaders in the society.

During the event teachers and subordinate staffs also benefited from the programme.

Kisii county aspiring senator Okengo Nyambane said he thought it wise to donate the masks to students to reach needy students who can't afford to purchase masks and away to minimize Covid-19.

Caleb Angwenyi who delivered the face masks challenged leaders and school aluminae to provide face masks to students who will not afford those masks as away to curb Covid-19.

“We need to motivate such leaders who have vision for our children and consider them in leadership when the time comes,” said Angwenyi.

Angwenyi Noted the aspiring senator will continue giving masks to schools in the county to help children remain in school.
