The ongoing KCSE exams are deep into the third week.Today has seen Biology paper 2 and History and Government papers being done.Tomorrow, the candidates are expected to sit for Biology practical exams. The teachers' employer has constantly called for the teachers who are administering the ongoing KCSE exams to do so with a lot of integrity.Just this week,a Machakos principal was apprehended for posting the Mathematics paper 2 questions on her Whatsapp. However, the Education CS Professor Magoha later confirmed that the questions posted were fake.
There have been constant warnings from the government about cheatings in the ongoing exams.Parents have been asked to refrain from the fake papers which are being sold.In its efforts to tame the cheatings,a teacher has been arrested in Homabay County. The said teacher is suspected to be behind the KCSE leakages in Nyanza. The 32 year old teacher from Nyagwethe Secondary school in Suba was arrested in Mbita town.Homabay County Commissioner Moses Lilian has said that the teacher is suspected to have been supplying examination materials in Migori,Kisii and Nyamira counties.
As reported by TV 47,in what has been seen to be a well choreographed syndicate, the suspect has been receiving exam materials from a counterpart in Nairobi and then supplies to his accomplices in the said areas. The County Commissioner further said that they were collaborating with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to unearth the cartel behind the cheatings in Nyanza."The teacher works in a strong network of examination criminals. We want the suspect to tell us more about these people he has been colluding with," Said Lilian. This is probably another lesson to teachers during this examination period.
