The ongoing lecturers strike in Multimedia University entered day two as lecturers refused to go to class again.The lecturers began the strike yesterday morning to the extent of going to the roads to air their grievances.The strike involves both lecturers and non teaching staff.The main reason cited for the strike is dishonoring of the CBA by the university administration.
Today, the strike began in the school premises at around ten o'clock.The lecturers and non teaching staff made a lot of noises at the administration block as they chatted a way forward.The noises went on till lunchtime when hell broke loose.The lecturers stormed into the university mase and stopped the serving of food that had just began.
They began singing the famous chant 'solidarity forever' in high tones that summoned the students attention.Upon seeing this, the students ran riot and stormed into the kitchen taking the food that had been cooked.Plates of rice flung in the air as students present sought to take what they were pleased with.
On the menu was chicken, chapati,rice beans and ndengu.Within few minutes the place was messy and chaotic.Students grabbed the chance to eat food they had not paid for.The phrase 'comrade power' manifested as students ate to their fill.
The university administration is yet to respond on the strike as the situation continues to leave students stranded about the fate of their studies,most especially the final year students.The chaos took place at around 1pm.
