She was born in Kiambu County where she attended Lari Secondary School with help of her uncle who is the famous Kenyan author Ngugi Wa Thio'ngo. Things became hard after her uncle flew out of the country, there was no more financial support.

She then decided to relocate to her mother's home where she used to go to school on foot. She used to rely on wellwishers for transport. One day, a man took advantage of her as he didn't let her alight from the car and took her to Nairobi to stay with her. The man made her pregnant.

Later, they relocated with the man to TransNzoia after asking her for a hand in marriage. The man used to mistreat her, she once beat her up for trying to set a 'mokimo' business in Kitale Town. They tried to set a business in Burnt Forest, Uasin Gishu County, but it was not successful because of ethnic clashes.

Her husband sadly died in 2000 and that was her turning point where she revived her food business. Her initial capital was Ksh800 from a pastor cooking service. She used to cook different types of food like Githeri, chapatis, tea under tree at Kamukunji in Kitale, 'Kanjos' used to disturb her. She could make Ksh500 to Ksh1500 a day.

She then started to save when her business boomed, she could save at least Ksh600 a day. From the Savings, she started 'Mama Njuguna Hotel' and later expanded to Nyama Choma Zone along the Kitale - Eldoret road.

At 48 years old, she returned to school so as to gain knowledge and to learn how to expand her business. She scored D- in KCSE. Her four children are also well educated.

From the savings and loan money, she's now constructing a Ksh 80Million hotel. Also, she has employed over 40 workers since she started her business under a tree. Her advise is that everyone should follow their passion and they should never fear to take risks.

Netizens online reacted by saying that is a true inspirational story showing hardwork pays.
