Teachers are regarded to be very important people in the world. They are known to make some of the most the most prominent people in the society. Sometimes, those teachers also take up the roles of leadership in the society. Below is a list of Kenyan Governors who have a background in education and teaching
1. John Obiero Nyagarama
John is serving for his second term as the Governor for Nyamira County. He was born in a remote village, Nyakemicha, in Nyamira County. John is a well trained and experienced teacher by profession. After graduating from the University of Nairobi with a degree in education, Nyagarama started his career at Nduru Boys Secondary School. He has also taught in other big schools including Menyenya and Nyasiongo before he quit teaching to pursue farming and later politics.
2. Zacharia Okoth Obado
The current Governor for Migori County studied Bachelors of Education at Kenyatta University. He also has a Masters degree in Strategic Management. The Rapogi High School Alumni went back to his former High School to practice his teaching career majoring in sciences. He also taught in other schools before joining politics.
3. Sospeter Odeke Ojaamong
The renowned politician has a Bachelors degree in education from Kenyatta University. The popular Governor for Busia County is a teacher of Biology and Chemistry.
4. James Ongwae
James Elvis Omariba Ongwae is a Governor elected to represent Kisii County with an ODM ticket. Born in 1952, Ongwae is serving his second term as Governor. He has Bachelors of Arts in economics and Government. He has however served and practiced teaching in various institutions. Ongwae at one time served as secretary for the Teachers Service Commission. He also worked at the Commission of Higher Education and the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC)
