
China and Kenya share a very good relationship. China is Kenya's largest trading partner and has also lent the country billions of dollars for infrastructure projects. For example Chinese banks, companies and expatriates were involved in the construction of the Thika Super Highway, the Standard Gauge Railway and many other projects.

It is estimated that there are 50,000 Chinese nationals in Kenya thus there have been significant cultural exchanges between the two people. There are also institutions in the country teaching the Chinese language.

Recently, personnel from the Chinese Embassy in Kenya visited Machakos University where they were joined by some students in celebrating the Chinese New Year of the Tiger.

This is according to a social media post by Chinese Embassy in Kenya that read, "Chinese New Year celebration in Machakos University. Students of China-aided Luban workshop at Machakos University celebrated the Chinese New Year of the Tiger and learned about the Beijing Winter Olympics through video and lectures.
