Kenyans on social media have been touched by the kind gesture of one senior officer who offered to support a school girl whose photo went viral.
The photo of Janet Memusi reading while takin care of cows caught the attention of the senior police officer. It never crossed the mind of the young girl that she would receive an unexpected guest who promised to support her throughout her academic journey.
Mr. Francis Kooli, a Commissioner of Police and the County Commander in Kisii was moved by Janet, a grade five pupil at Ololchani Primary School in Transmara West Sub-County. He decided to visit her school to learn about her situation.
Her photo had been trending on Facebook and Twitter with many netizens pouring empowering messages on her. This is when it caught the attention of the officer.
Moved by the young girl's show of determination to acquire education, the County Commissioner planned a visit to her school, know her wellbeing and to help the girl fulfill her educational dreams.
Janet's teachers said that she is a focused and dedicated pupil whose endeavors have been excellent in school. She received great support from the commisioner who promised to keep supporting her education.
The National Police Service is now a partner in local area matters through their local area policing projects and they have been working with various organizations to help children from less privileged families.
