Government confirms opening dates for schools.

Following the national elections, schools in the country were closed for a few days to pave way for a

smooth voting process, and were destined to be re-opened on 11 August, 2022.

However, the Ministry of Education has today postponed the opening date for schools from Thursday,

11 August, 2022 to Monday, 15 August 2022, citing an ongoing tallying of ballots in institutions. Through

a press release issued on Wednesday, the Ministry of Education said,

“ We have however been informed that the process of tallying of ballots may still be ongoing …

Therefore, following further consultations, I hereby convey the Government’s decision that Basic

Education Institutions will re-open from Monday, 15 th August, 2022 … The communication suspends any

earlier communication on the re-opening of basic education institutions.”

The ministry has however apologized for the inconvenience the changes might have caused to the

general public and asked for the public’s indulgence.

“We apologize for any inconvenience occasioned by these changes and ask for your indulgence.
