Cases of suicide have been on the rise in the past months at an alarming rate amid calls to address the trend.

It was an unusual morning for residents of Kathonzweni in Mwingi after they woke to the sad news of a Form Four student who allegedly killed himself.
The body of the student was found dangling from a tree at his parents' farm. The boy, a student at Kyanika Secondary School, used a sisal rope to commit the disgraceful act.
It is alleged that the student had refused to go to school for two weeks moments after being transferred from Mbondoni Secondary School to Kyanika.
A suicide note which was recovered in his bedroom read "Learning is nonsense, my parents, neighbours and the government should take my body to school if they still want me to study."
Confirming the incident, area Chief appealed to parents and teachers to regularly offer counselling to the students to avert such cases.
