Governor Wangamati has apologized over error on County scholarship program

Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati has apologized over the removal of needy pupil who scored 410 marks from the County scholarship program. The governor says that it was an error because his vetting team was mislead that the pupils parents are well of.

Diana Nyokabi the pupil who was to repeat class 8 due to lack of school fees, sat for her KCPE exam at Bungoma D.E.B Primary school and was to join Moi High School Eldoret.

Diana's case has attracted the attention of many Kenyans with Lamu Governor Fahim Twala paying her full year school fees.

Senate speaker Ken Lusaka, Akothee, Brookside Company among other Kenyans had offered to help educate Diana.

The governor says the error has been rectified and Diana has been enrolled back to it. The vetting process is normally a vigorous process where the vetting team visit the home of pupils to see if they really deserve a scholarship.

In the case of Diana, all these was done. Her mother Priscilla Nyachera says she struggles to pay 3000 rent and she is not a landlady as the vetting team had been informed.

The official who gave wrong information on Diana has not been named so far. We wish her well with her studies thanks for the media for airing her story.
