Later a well -wisher intervened and secured him placement at the Light Academy in Nairobi. It was through the scholarship that he managed to complete his secondary education.Kevin scored an A of 81 points out of 84 in the 2020 KCSE.

Otieno was to report to Egerton on sep 6 2021 but due to lack of fee problems,he is still at home.

His mother,Benter Atieno is a single parent in Kisumu Central working as a tailor and Hawks githeri for a living. The boy's mother has tried applying for bursaries but her efforts have been futile.

I have tried everything possible to raise the Egerton University fee through family and friends but I have only managed to raise Ksh 5,000 from church members, added the mother of 3.

For now, Otieno is clinging on hope that a well wisher would come to his rescue.
