Good News to Parents, Students as CS Machogu Clarifies that GOVT will not Abolish boarding

The government is not planning to end boarding schools, according to CS Ezekiel Machogu, the Cabinet Secretary in charge of the Ministry of Education due to Some areas where Families are leaving in a difficult situation.

He claims that the method by which primary school graduates will be fully integrated under the 100 percent transition policy is being considered.

On Monday he announced on the mass media, "The government will not abolish boarding schools because in Arid areas Kenyans in Nomadic Families are leaving in a difficult condition of movement."

The new policy of domiciliating primary schools for grades 7 to 9 will gradually eliminate the need for boarding primary schools and significantly lower the price of basic education.

Honorable Machogu claims that the government will not back down from eventually eliminating boarding schools at the primary level because the current educational system will automatically resolve the dispute over where primary school students should go.

The plan to eliminate boarding schools is at an advanced stage and is expected to begin in early 2023, but the Cabinet Secretary's new announcement could be good news for parents.
