The government has now broken its silence and stated why the money may be delayed and lowered further, contrary to what many expected.
According to the report, CS Ukur Yatani has stated that funds allocated to higher education institutions will decrease because many universities pay less.Treasury CS Ukur Yatani said the state will no longer fund institutions to the tune they wish
"Treasury CS Ukur Yatani said the state will no longer continue funding universities to the tune they desire" read the paper.
This implies that the funds allocated to this year's loan will be significantly lower than in previous years. The money have been utilized to assist students who are unable to pay their university tuition but will be reimbursed upon completion of their education.
This is however, a colossal problem to the birth university and mid college students who have been relying on the helb loan for personal upkeeps as well as reducing fee load on parents.
