The cabinet secretary for education George magoha revealed that this year 2021 form one selection will take place on 28th May . Unlike in the previous selection, the process will only take place once. Thousands of learners are worried that they might loose out in their preferred schools as they have been doing it the second selection.
The country has atotal of 103 National Schools. They will have to accommodate 30,000 learners. About 8091 learners scored 400 marks an above. There are 531 Extra County schools with a capacity of 123,358 learners. Those who scored 300 marks and above were282,090 candidates.
This means many learners are going to miss out in National school. They will be absorbed in the Extra County and county schools.
The ministry of education has outlined four criterias that will be used in form one selection.
1 The total marks scored.
This will be given priority as those who scored high marks will be offered places in National schools.
2 Affirmative action
This will determine the gender balance on how the learners scored and the schools they will attend.
3 School of Choice.
A learner will be given a school he/she applied for so long as he attained the marks required.
4 Regional balance.
Learners who come from hardship areas will be given priority depending on the marks they have scored.
Magoha has given a stun warning to those people who maybe attempted to rob parents money in the name of getting a better school for their children.
