A good number of students in universities, Colleges and other tertiary institutions in Kenya benefit from the Higher Education Loans Board. Students with financial constraints apply for the Higher Education Loans to support their education. Students are free to refund the amount awarded to them after completion of studies.
.Earlier, students have been receiving fake messages through their email notifying them that their HELB account is inactive. In the text, a student is told that he has a pending disbursement that should be deposited to the student bank account within 72 hours.
Students are informed further to activate their HELB account for them to complete the payment. They are informed further to pay 2200 shillings for activation.
All students who benefit from the Higher Education Loans Board receive a crucial message from HELB. HELB has drawn it's attention to the emails that has been spreading the fake content. HELB has now given it's customers the official email that it sends its messages in the text above.
