Kenya through the Ministry of Education (MOE) that is under the leadership of Prof. George Magoha as the cabinet secretary has classified education into three levels namely; primary, secondary and tertiary institutions.
It's bad news to Over 32,000 university students following the act of the government announcing that it has stopped funding of Ksh 5.5 billion to the students. The fund was allocated to the university students who had defferd their studies over various reasons.
Details emerged during a two day meeting between the National Assembly Education Committee, Ministry of Education, National Treasury and the Public Universities Vice Chancellors in Mombasa County where it was revealed that the Universities were not giving the cohorent details of the students to be funded.
The CEO and the secretary of the Universities Fund Mr. Geoffrey Monari said some students who manoeuvred with the Universities internal system to stay longer in the learning institutions.
In conclusion, it's a big blow to many university student who depended on the same amount to further their studies. Universities affected include Kenyatta, Nairobi, Moi and Egerton University.
