Joseph Odhiambo, a form four student from Kamunda Secondary School in Awendo, Migori County is behind bars for allegedly faking his own abduction.
The 22 year old boy texted his mother severally telling her to pay the needed ransom amount of 20,000 for him to be released by unknown individuals who he said had abducted him on the 5th of January 2023 but later came back home with blood-stained clothes.
Upon realizing the mischievous act of his son, the mother took the boy to the police station. When questioned by the officers, he said that his act was to facilitate the clearing of the outstanding fees which his mother denied citing that the child had no fee balance.
The source of the blood-stained clothes emerged that the boy had acquired blood from the nearby butchery as he wanted to show prove of being roughed up by the 'abductors'.
The matter is under investigation whereas the boy is to face disciplinary actions
