Competency Based Curriculum is a new education system in the country that is slowly replacing 8-4-4 system which have been in the country for more than 30 year. CBC is aimed at imparting learners with relevant skills that are needed in job market.
The first cohort of CBC learners will sit for Grade Six examination from next week. There has been a question of whether grade six learners will transtion to secondary schools or they will remain in primary schools. This has been a concern from many parents because grade six learners are too young to interact with adolescents in secondary schools.
Details have now emerged that Presidential Working Party on Education Reform is considering radical reforms that could alter 2-6-3-3-3 CBC to new 2-6-2-4-3. According to standard newspaper, the move could see grade six learners remain in there present for another two year to ease parents age concern.
This is good news to parents as they will be able to continue taking care of there young children who were to transition to secondary schools.
