As a result of teacher shortage in Kenya, the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has requested the TSC to employ 5000 more teachers ahead of the new academic year, which will begin later this month.

KUPPET SG Akello Misori, says that the new academic year, will be compressed, therefore it will be more tactical. He implored the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to hire additional teachers to provide for the two new transitional tests, the KSCE and the CBC.
He further asked parents to be content with the Secondary Schools to which their children will be admitted due to a limited number of admissions in national schools.
Misori stepped down his views for Homa Bay's gubernatorial seat under the ODM ticket in favour of Gladys Wanga. This was enabled through an agreement between the two leaders.
However,Akello Misori has been in the forfront advocating for secondary school teachers rights under his leadership in KUPPET.
