It is a sign of relief to most parents as the Ministry Of Education announces reduction of secondary school fees by Sh8500 in National schools, Sh5500 in others due to short nature of 2021 school calendar.
Kenyans have been reeling from tough economic times and raising fees had become a challenge. The current pandemic has made many to lose their jobs.
Corona virus disturbed the education calendar in Kenya, its outbreak saw the closure of schools for nearly one year. Kenyans have had a challenge in bringing food to table with the prices of basic commodities skyrocketing.
Despite reducing school fees, the government has not yet done enough to help kenyans from the hardships. The best way the government can help kenyans by reducing the prices of food and other basic commodities.
Instead of increasing taxes, the government should be imposing tax relief measures. Fuel prices and cooking gas cylinders prices are high yet these are necessities one can't live without.
