Prior to his appointment into the ministry of education, he was the vice Chancellor of Nairobi University.

He studied Medicine at the University of Lagos Nigeria in early 80s before moving to Kenya.

The Professor is married and blessed with one son who goes by the name Michael Achianja Magoha.

Magoha junior just like the farther is a medical doctor having studied Medicine at the University of Nairobi where he graduated in 2009.

He later on in 2011 got admitted into a Masters class in the same university to do neurosurgery.

Currently, the Alumnus of Strathmre and brookehouse schools is a tutorial fellow at his Alma matter and a consultant.

Besides, Michael Magoha is a guitar player and also likes playing basketball.

The Magoha's is a family of doctors only with Michael's mum being an obstetrician gynaenachologist.

The Mother is a Nigerian National who found love in Kenya back in 80s when senior Magoha was studying in the country.
