In Bungoma, a girl, Diana Nyokabi, scored 401 marks in KCPE repeats Class 8 after being knocked out of county scholarship program.

Diana Nyokabi was to join Moi Girls High, Eldoret. But was unable to raise the fee of 53,554 shillings, which was the yearly fee. She was at D.E.B Primary again, enrolling to repeat class 8.

This is sad as she is a bright student who is being pulled back because of fee problems. She applied for the Bungoma County Bursary fund and failed to get one.

Several Kenyans and politicians came out after hearing this story to offer support to the young girl.

‘Why would Lamu Governor  Fahim Twaha pay the full year school fees for Diana Nyokabi, the Bungoma pupil who scored 402 marks in last year's KCPE, hakuna Governors in Western Kenya with Kenyan Looted tax payers money? Even from her own Constituency, there is CDF for this function‘ Lord Abraham Mutai on Twitter tweeted.

‘Diana Nyokabi was ejected from Bungoma's scholarship program because she is a Kikuyu. Wangamati and his Mudavadi are tribal demagogues. We need a paybill to contribute her full fees for the 4 years. This is how my people should know the real enemies of Mt. Kenya.’ Thuo Kimani Githuku on Twitter said.

Kenyans on the internet suggested that she was discriminated due to her tribe’s status. Others stated that corruption is one of the reasons as to why most bright students miss out on schooling opportunities.
