Maranda national high school and Maseno national high are among the best performing high schools in Kenya. These two schools are located in Nyanza region of Kenya. Many people have asked alot of questions concerning the difference in academic performance between these two important academic powerhouses. In this article I will discuss about academic performance of Maseno and Maranda national high schools.
Maranda High School.
This is a public national boarding secondary school for boys only located in Siaya county, Kenya. The school was founded in 1919 by a group of Christian Missionaries called Chapel Missionary Society (CMS). Maranda is headed by Mr. Edwin Wafula Namachanja who is the principal.
Maranda has been known to perform well in local and national examinations. In 2020 KCSE examination, the school had total candidature of 453 and managed to take 418 students direct to university. This was after it posted an impressive mean score of 9.7634 which is B (plain). Of the 418 students who went to the university, 48 of them scored straight As while 142 scored A minus (A-), the second most coveted grade.
Maseno High School.
Maseno national high school is a boys only national public boarding secondary school located in Kisumu county along the busy Kisumu-Busia highway. It was established in 1906 by the missionaries of the Church Missionary Society with an aim of improving education for children of native African chiefs.
In 2020 KCSE examination, Maseno school registered a total of 462 candidates. Out of the 462 students, 448 scored a mean grade of above C+ which is the minimum university entry grade. Of the 448 students, 24 of them scored A (plain) while 121 had A- (minus).
