Education Ministry Announces Application Dates for Teacher Training

The Department of Education led by CS George Magoha has issued application dates for students who want to join Teachers Training Colleges.

In a statement on Monday, April 5, the department noted that it was ready to start receiving applications from students who want to join Diploma college colleges starting Tuesday, April 6.

The report also stated that the application process will run for two weeks until April Tuesday, April 20, 2021.

Speaking to the media, Principal Secretary for Higher Education and Basic Education Dr Julius Jwan said applicants were free to apply for a Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (PTE) or Early Childhood Development Teacher Education (ECTE).


For the Diploma in PTE, successful applicants must have a grade C (plain) in their Kenya Higher Education Certificate (KCSE).

In addition, all baptism candidates must have a C (Plain) in English, Swahili, Mathematics, and a personal and scientific study.

For baptismal candidates with a disability, they will be expected to receive a lower C- (Minus) equality in basic subjects.

For ECTE nominees, they will be expected to have a low C level (plain) at KCSE while those with disabilities will be accepted with a C-grade.

How to apply

Interested applicants will be required to select forms from the County Directors of Education (CDEs) or download the forms from the service website.

The courses will take three years.
