Universities are now facing tough times as Treasury changes tune over the state plan in funding universities. According to Treasury Cabinet secretary Ukur Yatani, universities should be creative and innovative to fund for themselves.
CS Yatani said during an interview with star that the state will no longer fund universities with the aim of meeting their standards and desires. Ukur told universities that should think out of the box and embrace innovation to get funds in funding learning process in the institution.
CS Yatani added that universities should consider increasing school fees for their students as the government can't spend a lot of Money to just train students. The move emerges with the aim of slashing funds allocated to universities due to economic situation.
Treasury CS further added that universities should look for ways to solve their problems and not necessary depending on the government. Universities have been claiming the addition of funds but the government has been reluctant for the allocation due to tough economic times as CS Yatani stated.
