Gov't Issues Fresh Directives to Teachers For Students Traveling Out Of The Country

Government through the Ministry of Education has today issued 13 fresh directives for students traveling out of the country. In the circular sent by Dr Mary Gaturu, the director of Quality Assurance and Standards, all students will have to meet the following conditions before they can be allowed to travel outside the country.

Students and teachers should have a letter of request from the school. Teachers traveling with students should also have list of students traveling out of the country indicating their names, admission number, copy of birth certificate and photocopy of passport number.

There should also be parents consent supported by copy of identity card and supported by the school. Other requirements are;

Court Order with respect of legal guardianship, proof of sponsorship, copy of students passports, invitation letter by the host country.

Teachers accompanying students should also be cleared by Teachers Service Commission (TSC). However, teachers from private schools will have to avail copies from there passport, ID Cards and appointment or introduction letter from the school.

The guidelines are to ensure students are safe while they are out of the country. Ministry want teachers to who wish to go out with students should put into consideration above guidelines.
