University student granted sh700,000 by court

A court has granted a previous Machakos University understudy Sh700,000 for utilization of her picture in a notice without assent.

Equity Margaret Waringa sitting at the High Court in Machakos pronounced that the college disregarded her principal right to protection and human respect when it utilized Catherine Njeri's picture in a business ad.

Njeri, in a request she documented on October 26, 2021, guaranteed the thought process was for the college to get more understudies to participate in the said courses presented at the college at Sh7,000

She affirmed that her picture was taken by an unapproved worker, specialist, or potentially representative of the college without her insight.

She guessed that the University disregarded her right to security and not to be held in bondage or subjugation when it distributed her photograph for the school's business gain with no monetary benefit acquired by her.

"On April 10, 2021, the solicitor (Njeri) found that her photo had been utilized by the respondent (college) in promoting and advertising courses it offered." Read piece of the request.

Njeri further looked for a clarification from the establishment, regarding the reason why it was utilizing her picture without her assent.
