MARANDA High School dormitories on fire

Bondo Deputy County Commissioner, Richard Karani has established that Maranda high school, in Siaya County is on fire again. Speaking to the local publication on Sunday, December 5 morning, Karani has mentioned that the fire began at Boaz Owino dormitory this morning adding that the police arrived at the school to establish the cause of the fire.

On Thursday, all Form Four students were sent home indefinitely for allegedly refusing to write their mock exams and threatening to burn the school. Siaya County Director of Education Nelson Sifuna has established that over 400 students were sent home on Thursday morning over the same. The internal mock exams, which were scheduled for Monday, December 6, have since been postponed to a later date, which will be communicated. The students had, on Tuesday night, threatened to torch learning or accommodation facilities within the school.

A dormitory broke out on Sunday, December 5, at the Maranda High School.

One of the teachers of Maranda High School, who spoke to the local publication on condition of anonymity, mentioned that the decision to send the learners home was arrived at on Thursday morning.
