Schools are expected to re-open for third term on 10th May as per the Education CS Prof. George Magoha. All parents and students have started preparing for the re-opening amid directives from the Ministry of Education.
However, on 14th April the CS for Interior Security Dr. Fred Matiang'i extended the lockdown in the five red zoned counties to May 29. Curfew also in the named counties was extended to the same date with bars and restaurants remaining closed while any kind of gathering also prohibited. Many questions have been asked about how the schools shall reopen with the effect of lockdown taking place. Transport in and out of the red-zoned counties is prohibited hence this will hinder movement of students to their respective schools.
The Government should have it's plans on how students will travel back to school moreso those who are travelling in and out of the red-zoned counties. Plans for vaccination should be set for the students to be vaccinated immediately after reporting. Vaccination of teachers is on the process and this will boost re-opening amid more Covid-19 infections. Moreover, if the Government sees it better to re-open the counties put under lockdown, students will travel easily, freelyand with no doubts of reporting back.
Finally, let's adhere to the laid guidelines to curb the spread of this deadly virus. For more news like and follow.
