Education cabinet secretary professor George Magoha has created further controversy by ordering that homosexual students be prohibited from boarding schools. Professor Magoha believes that gay students should be restricted to day schools that are closer to their homes.
The remarks by the education cabinet secretary has sparked mixed reactions with a section of online users condemning the directive. His announcement divided Kenyans right in the middle, while others termed the move as discriminative, others endorsed it. Lawyer Makau Mutua castigated Magoha arguing his directive and said it was unconstitutional.
The united states based political analyst said banning homosexual students is not only discriminative and unconstitutional but also inhuman.
Further Magoha praised Maranda high school Management said the students have to produce valid certificates from either NACADA or a recognized health facility. The school Management also resolved that there would be random drugs and substance tests done in the school. This is done to curb the school fires which was reported in the school.
