The Ministry of education is set to make new proposal aimed at closing all the taps the school heads have been creating in the named of developing the schools.
The ministry want to be in full control of the money disbursed to schools. Education Cabinet secretary Prof George Magoha said some time back that cases of money being lost by respective teachers should be held accountable. The CS for education wanted to employ School finance managers to take control of financial issues in schools .
This was a proposal made in 2019 were the Education CS George Magoha gave tough measures to school heads in a proposal on National Education Quality Assistance and Standard Framework for basic education.
He was aiming to bring assurance in schools by introducing Ministry's Directorate of school Audit and Ethics and anti-corruption commission to work together to curb corrupt school heads.
Magoha also added that some schools heads gave false information and figures so that alot of money is disbursed to schools.
Today, Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has rejected the move by the Ministry of Education to employee finance managers in schools. They are saying that the principles will not have any powers in schools Of managing finances or human resources
This is really good news to school heads.
