The Kenya University and Colleges Central Placement Service, KUCCPS, is a state corporation which is responsible for placing all KCSE graduates to colleges such as Training and Vocational Colleges and universities to various courses.
The Corporations usually advises all the KCSE candidates to either apply for courses before or after their national examinations. The students are required to lias with their school principals in secondary schools to ensure that they have been helped to pay, select courses and universities or colleges of their choice.
The students are given options to choose from, such as Degree programmes, Diploma, Certificate or Artisan programmes depending on their academic ability.
Either the Principal or Career teacher helps the learners to access the website using the school KUCCPS portal. Either of these logs in to the portal or if the school doesn't have a portal, they will either create one so that they get to download the principal manual which will outline the procedure for payment and the steps to follow while selecting courses for the students.
All secondary school principals or career are required to encourage all students to pay for the revision of courses for consideration. This gives them priority to be placed in courses and universities of their choice.
The KUCCPS has been down for a while whereby it is not responding to validation of M-pesa transactions and upload of students choices, although the deadline had past not many teachers were able to meet it. For that reason the body has extended the deadline for this first application exercise to April 16th 2021. A great relief for learners and school heads who are busy for exams at the moment.
