India's 75,000 first-year students will soon benefit from free tablets. Unveiling the plan Union Minister of State for Education Subhas Sarkar said the motive of the donations was to improve infrastructure of rural students and learning institutions.
The minister was on a 5 day tour of the Jammu and Kashmir, he noted that the tour was under the direction of prime minister Narendra Modi. He visited a number of learning institutions holding meetings with stake holders and reaching to consensus on what each institution requires to meet it's obligations for the learners.
2000 other students from minority tribes will too benefit from the initiative. He added that having visited the area,He now has a clear picture of the challenges the students in the region experience.
Skill development was to be introduced to learning institutions saying that would help students easily identify job opportunities. He also emphasized the need by students from poor background to apply prime ministers scholarship.
