The campus is situated within the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) and boasts of producing the finest medics in Kenya, the likes of Ouma Oluga and former health PS Nicholas Muraguri.

Just like other campuses, the institution was closed in order to curtail the spread of corona virus but is set to be opened after Education Cabinet Secretary Professor George Magoha ordered all final year students in the medical field to resume studies. This will be done under strict adherence of COVID-19 containmemt measures.

For this reason Moi University medical school will quickly adapt owing to the teaching method that they use. In this campus, students basically learn through small groups called tutorial groups as opposed to attending lectures.

The teaching modality is called problem based learning (PBL) where learners are given scenarios through which they read, make their objectives then disperse to research by themselves. Later on, they will meet in the groups to discuss what they found out. The role of the lecturer during discussion will only be to clarify on contentious concepts.

Because this school limits lectures, it is already miles ahead of others in limiting the spread of COVID-19. The small groups in which learning takes place could effectively practise social distancing.
