The school calendar is likely to be distorted further as the map road for the resumption of school for third term remains unclear.Last year 2020 the school calender was reorganized due to the nine month closure to mitigate the effects of Coronavirus.
As Professor Maghoha tried to show up a brave face by assurance that school will reopen a reality check on the situation diminished such hopes. Several factors has come to the interplay dashing away the possibilities for reopening.
Though the cabinet secretary for education directed the education officers to conduct inspection to check the preparedness of schools to curb the spread of the virus,little has been done by the school.Several school managers have admitted without funds from the government or parents nothing can be done.
The second wave is dangerous and it has taken away the lives of school Principals.The positivity rate is still high and therefore continue to be a threat to the lives of teachers. At the moment most teachers are at the marking centres and it's being monitored closely whether the centres will not be a breeding ground for the virus.
Few teachers have been vaccinated despite being amongst the frontline workers. They are therefore not prepared for the resumption of school. If school are to resume all stakeholder should now move in speed to hasten the preparedness of schools.
