The Former Education CS Prof George Magoha, has officially joined Maseno University as a Professor of Surgery at the School of Medicine.
The Daily Nation learnt this from Dr.Owen McOnyango, the versity's Director of Public Relations.
"He is an asset to us due to his vast experience and strong professional background. Our school of Medicine is relatively new and to get an experienced and strong personality like Magoha is definitely a plus for us," said Dr Owen.
His experience will be essential and will benefit both graduate and post-graduate students according to Dr Owen.
Initially, Prof George Magoha served as Vice-Chancellor at the University of Nairobi (UoN) for ten years.
He also served as Professor of Urological and Transplant Surgery at the same versity's College of Health Sciences.
His career is traced way back when he worked as an intern in surgery at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital in Nigeria and later became a full Professor of Surgery in 2000.
In 2019, Prof George Magoha was appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta to serve as the Education CS. He replaced Dr Fred Matiangi who left the docket for Interior docket.
He oversaw the implementation of both Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and 100 per cent transition for all learners from primary school to secondary school during his tenure.
