Education Stake Holders Blame Magoha For Making drug Test Mandatory To Students

Stakeholders in the education sector have come out to attack the Cabinet Secretary George Magoha after he ruled that high school students undergo a mandatory drug test before being allowed into the school.

The experts said that the act which was first carried out at Maranda was sinister as it violated the rights of privacy of the students a thing that should be taken to court. Many parents as well as lawyers have also castigates CS Magoha over the same.

"The exercise violated various sections of the constitution that touch on the right to privacy, children's rights and discrimination and must be stopped. It is an unnecessary intrusion on children's lives," lawyer Ken Echesa remarked.

The lawyer further stated that the government should rather engage with students than carrying out the tests which turn negative and this alters their behavior.

"The government should engage stakeholders such as parents and children to voluntarily participate in the exercise. And it must be aimed at helping children," he said.
