Primary Education

What has complicated the transition of education.

8-4-4 was introduced in the year 1985 and so it has served the nation for almost four decades now. It consists of 8 years of primary education, four years of secondary education and finally four years of higher education. On the other hand, CBC is a new education that has more emphasis on skill developing and skills from an early age and how to put the skills into practice. CBC is a 2-6-6-3 system that has a year difference when compared to 8-4-4.

Just like any other person, we all wish to complete our studies as soon as possible. This one-year difference between CBC and 8-4-4 has created some negative attitude towards CBC. It has been considered to be more time consuming.

Lack of experience by teachers about CBC is also another concerned. Teachers have ben trained on how to deliver 8-4-4 content and not CBC. This becomes so difficult to convince that there will be quality delivery to students.

CBC has no room for competition. Competition is one of the factors that makes students and teachers to work hard. Does this mean that there will be no more working hard so as to be the best? It has been a pride for both parents and teachers when their students are ranked as the best countrywide, countywide or even in class. These are some of the top reasons as to why most people are still doubting the new education system.
