Kenyans Angered By Kenya Kwanza Promising Police Jobs To School Dropouts & Class 8 Leavers

Leaders of Kenya Kwanza are under fire for pledging to recruit school dropouts into the police force.

Kenyans have flocked to social media to express their displeasure with Kenya Kwanza MPs who have pledged to recruit school dropouts and Class 8 graduates into the police force.

While a minimum grade of D+ is necessary to join the police force or the Kenya Defence Forces as a constable, Senator Cleophas Malala of Kakamega believes that only school dropouts should join the police and military.

According to him, the sole responsibility of a police officer—carrying a firearm—does not require anyone with a high GPA but only Class 8 dropouts.

Malala, speaking in the Western region on Tuesday, urged Kenya Kwanza to consider allowing school dropouts to join the police and military, so that Form Four graduates with a KCSE may enter universities, colleges, and technical schools.

"Kazi ya askari si ni kushika tu bunduki pakee?" Kama mtu alienda Form 4 na akapata C+ waende university, hawa wenye hawakufanikiwa kumaliza shule ndio waingie police, "Malala stated."

Malala desires that Luhya youngsters be permitted to join the police force without any certification, much less a KCPE certificate.
