Expected Nationwide Examinations Beginning March 8-18, 2021

The Kenya National Examinations Council, KNEC, has released guidelines on how to administer Grade 4 school based assessment tests that will kick off next week.

The assessment will begin on March 8 to 18, 2021. KNEC has already provided the guidelines on how to handle the assessment tests which are CBC based.

The education CS, George Magogha has cautioned teachers over putting pressure on the pupils about the assessments since they are not examinations.

The CS also urged parents to stop putting pressure on the learners since the assessments are not examinations. He also asked teachers to be able to administer the assessments by using readily available materials.

"I urge colleagues from the education sector to ensure that the Grade Four assessments that begins next week goes on as planned. The Kenya National Examinations Council has already provided guidelines on this important assessment, which is part of the successful in implementation of the Competency Based Curriculum," said Magogha.

On the other hand, the Teachers Service Commission, TSC, CEO, Dr Nancy Macharia, has directed all field officers to facilitate schools to administer the tests.

All teachers are instructed to conduct the assessments during the normal class environment and during class time.

School heads are asked to ensure that class teachers access the Knec assessment tools in time so as to have the exercise move on smoothly.
