Ruto Says Who Sent Him to Meet Safaricom, KCB CEOs on Wednesday

President William Ruto has alleged who sent him to attend a meeting hosted by the Safaricom, Kenya Commercial Bank and NCBA companies on Wednesday.

The event was attended by Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of the mentioned organisations.

Ruto said that he attended the event on behalf of Kenyans, whom he claimed sent him there as most couldn't personally attend the event.

"I was actually planning to come to you to have this meeting with you. I have been sent by your customers. The people who cannot make it to your offices or the negotiating table. The people want a mutually beneficial relationship, win-win out of this relationship," he said as is quoted by The Star.

Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa used the event to highlight on some of the achievements of the Fuliza borrowing platform, praising its progress so far.

He further announced a number of goodies and fresh benefits for the platform's customers, including deductions to daily maintenance fees of transactions between Sh1,000 and Sh70,000.

"This establishes Fuliza as the most accessible and affordable credit facility at only one per cent of the transaction value, especially when customers repay within a relatively short period of time," he said.

Ruto had in his campaigns promised better loan terms for borrowers, including removal from the CRB blacklisting platform.
