Sigh Of Relief For Kenyans After New Petrol Prices Are Proposed

Fuel price hikes across the country sparked a popular outcry, with Kenyans complaining about the exorbitant cost of life. The increase in fuel taxes resulted in a subsequent increase in fuel costs. Kenyans, on the other hand, can now breathe a sigh of relief as the Kenyan Petroleum Regulation Board validated the existing petroleum rates.

According to Citizen TV Kenya, petrol in Nairobi will cost ksh 124.33 under the revised plan. From the current retail price of ksh 135.00, this will be a significant discount of more than ksh 10.

The fresh ideas follow multiple appeals for the government to confirm the fuel prices from lawmakers and other notable Kenyans. After recognizing the extent to which the price increase has damaged the lives of ordinary Kenyans, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga promised Kenyans that prices would be reduced in one week.
